J. Alden Philbrick, IV
President and Chief Executive Officer
Throughout his 20-year career in the lending business, Mr. Philbrick has managed the financing of over $1.5 billion in loans and leases to emerging venture-stage and public companies. Prior to founding Oxford Finance Corporation, Mr. Philbrick established Oxford Venture Finance and served as its president and managing general partner. Previously, he was executive vice president and a member of the corporate executive management team at Finalco, a publicly-held equipment leasing company that provided operating leases for equipment to Fortune 500 companies. He holds a B.A. in Management Science and Public Policy from Duke University.
Timothy A. Lex
Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President
Mr. Lex has been a senior executive and management consultant in the financial services industry for more than 20 years. His experience includes serving as president and chief executive officer of Sallie Mae’s thrift division, president of a technology services company, and chief operating officer and board member of Riggs Bank. He earned an M.B.A. in finance from The University of Rochester and holds a B.A. in economics from The College of William and Mary.
Hans S. Houser
Senior Vice President of Credit and Portfolio Management
Mr. Houser has nearly 15 years of lending experience, specializing in venture-backed companies. Prior to joining Oxford, he managed a $40 million venture portfolio for Micro Tech Leasing and served as a director of the Mid-Atlantic region for Leasing Technologies, a venture leasing company with an $80 million portfolio. He also held various credit and underwriting positions with GE Capital, Canon Financial Services and Automotive Rentals. Mr. Houser received his B.A. from the University of Virginia.
John G. Henderson
Vice President and General Counsel
Mr. Henderson has over 15 years legal experience negotiating and documenting commercial loans and structured finance transactions. Prior to joining Oxford, he was a partner at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Dyer Ellis & Joseph (which merged with Blank Rome LLP), where he represented commercial banks and financial services companies. Before entering private practice in 2000, Mr. Henderson served as Assistant General Counsel at the Export-Import Bank of the United States. He had primary legal responsibility for over $5 billion in project, structured and aircraft finance transactions, and he developed an expertise in cross-border recoveries, restructurings and workouts. Mr. Henderson received his B.A. from Lake Forest College and his J.D. from American University. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and the Virginia State Bar.
